William McGinnis, Program Director
My name is William McGinnis, and I am the Program Director for the Believe It Foundation. I graduated from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin and began my education career in Seguin ISD. Shortly after, I moved to Harlandale ISD, where I spent four years as a Life Skills teacher, followed by a promotion to Adaptive Physical Education teacher. During my ten years with Harlandale ISD, I was honored to receive the Teacher of the Year award from the Down Syndrome Society, which was published in an Adapted PE Journal. I also invented a sensory cart to assist autistic students. I developed several district-wide initiatives, including Partners in PE, which helped establish the largest competing unified teams to promote inclusion through sports. Since joining the Believe It Foundation, I have taken pride in our growth, expanding our reach from three to twenty-one districts. It has been a blessing to spread inclusion opportunities throughout the San Antonio area, and it warms my heart to see students’ faces light up when they participate in various activities or ride a bike for the first time.
